Carlsbad Flower Fields (Mid- March through May)
It may be a bit more commercial than the old days, but the Carlsbad Flower Fields are still an amazing sight, and you can finish the day with a trip to nearby Carlsbad Company Stores for shopping, Legoland for the kiddies or Four Seasons Aviara for high tea. (760) 431-0352.

Annual Mainly Mozart Festival (May-June)

Del Mar National Horse Show (Apr 19- May 6)

2007 Ramona Rodeo (all Month)
One of the country's top PRCA sanctioned full-scale pro rodeos. Western dances and specialty western acts. Location: 5th and Aqua, Fred Grand Arena Ramona.

Cinco de Mayo (May 5)
It's not much in the way of history, but Cinco de Mayo sure is a good excuse to raise a frosty margarita to the sun gods.

Chula Vista Cinco De Mayo Celebration (May 5)

Cinco in the Gaslamp (May 5)
The Cinco De Mayo Celebration takes the form of an outdoor music block party in the Gaslamp Quarter. Includes live bands, mariachi music, ballet folklorico, Mexican food, margaritas and more. Ticketed event, 21 yrs and up. 619-233-5008

Annual Julian Wildflower Show (May 10-13)

Gator by the Bay (May 11-13)
This Mardi Gras Zydeco and Blues Festival at Spanish Landing Park showcases more than a dozen bands, free dance workshops, a "Taste of Louisiana" food court, kiddie tent, and a Mardi Gras Parade. (619) 234-8612

Carlsbad Spring Village Faire (early May)
Largest one-day street fair in California. Features exhibitors, international food and live entertainment. Grand Avenue, between Carlsbad Blvd and Jefferson St, downtown Carlsbad. 8am-5pm. Free shuttle buses from Westfield El Camino Real Mall & Poinsettia Coaster Station. 760-434-8887

Annual San Diego Cajun Zydeco Music and Food Festival (Early May)
This family-oriented event, `Gator by the Bay`, features Cajun and Zydeco bands playing American music born in the Cajun Triangle. Features food, vendors, cooking demonstrations and dances lessons. Wild Animal Park Founders Day (Mid-May)

19th Annual San Diego American Indian Cultural Days (Mid May)

Portuguese Fiesta (Mid May)

Sicilian Festival (May 20)

North Park Spring Festival (May 20)
An arts,culture and entertainment festival featuring 5 stages of dance, bands, performing arts, world music, children's arts and other activities, merchant booths with unique arts and crafts, food court with international foods and a beer pub. Location: University Avenue, between 30th and 32nd Streets, 10am-6pm. Free admission. 619-294-2501

Annual Ramona Air Fair (May 26-27)
Aerial fire fighting, aircraft demonstration flights, airplane rides, carnival rides, hot air balloons, music, fireworks, and more take place at the Ramona Airport. Free admission. Call (760) 788-6174 for more information.

Annual Valley Center Western Days (Late May)

KIFM Jazz Festival (Late May)
